DRIVING TEST INFORMATION
Theory and hazard perception test The theory test is made up of two parts; the multiple choice part and the hazard perception part. Both tests are taken on a computer at your local DSA theory test centre using the mouse and a touch screen monitor to answer. You will need to correctly answer 43 out of 50 questions to pass the multiple choice test and score at least 50 out of a possible 75 in the hazard perception test. You need to pass both tests at the same time to successfully pass the theory test. The key to passing the theory test is to spend plenty of time studying the Highway Code and by practicing mock tests on a DSA approved theory/hazard perception CD-ROM - Available for FREE via your Driving Instructor! The practical driving test lasts for approximately 40 minutes, in which time you will take an eye sight test, answer two vehicle safety questions and drive for at least 30 minutes. During the test you will do two of the following reversing exercises: reverse around a corner, turn in the road or a reverse park. You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop. You may make up to 15 driving faults (16 is a fail), but if you commit just one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test immediately. The key to passing your practical driving test is to get plenty of practice with a competent Driving Instructor, as well as family and friends (minimum of 3 years driving experience and minimum age of 21).
